Making the Kissing Love Bugs

1) Choose a color paper for the body and the wings of your love bugs.

2) For the wings, fold the paper in half and cut out a heart shape.  Be sure to make the heart wide to show when attached to the tube.

3) Cut the paper for the body to the size of the cardboard tube.

4) Use the glue stick to wrap the paper around the cardboard tube.

 5) Have your child decorate the heart with stickers, gems and sequins.

6) Cut two thin strips of contrasting paper that can wrap around the cardboard tube to add some interest to the body.

7) Create the mouth by placing two sparkly sticker hearts overlapping bottom to bottom on a piece of paper.  Cut out the shape.

8) Fold the hearts in half with the sparkly side inside, then fold back all four curved edges.

9) Attach the lips, googly eyes and wings to the cardboard tube with double sided tape. Be sure when attaching the lips to line up the two love bugs to ensure that their lips are aligned.

10) Glue pom-poms on each side of the top of the cardboard tubes.

11) Cut a pipe cleaner and twist the ends around a pencil to curl them.  Fold the piece in half and tape the pipe cleaner to the inside top back of the tube.

2) Take the 3″ x 4″cardboard piece and wrap it in colored paper with the glue stick to create the platform.

13) You can decorate the platform.  Be sure to keep the decorations to the front of the platform to allow room for the love bugs.

4) Hot glue the love bugs to the platform, and position them so that their lips touch.

Loving on these love bugs!
